As reported in Variety, Clint Eastwood begins filming on a supernatural thriller titled 'Hereafter' starring Matt Damon in the fall. There's no logline, but it's in the vein of 'The Sixth Sense.' What's really interesting to me is that it'll be his second consecutive collaboration with Damon after the Nelson Mandela flick 'Invictus,' in which Damon plays the famous leader (nah, Morgan Freeman is -- but you're racist for taking issue with the joke Damon casting).
Eastwood has a history of consecutive collaborations: Brian Helgeland wrote 'Blood Work' (brick!) and then 'Mystic River' (Oscar winner) the next year. Paul Haggis wrote 'Million Dollar Baby' (Oscar winner) and then 'Flags of Our Flags' (brick!) two years later.
So which will it be? I guess we'll have to wait and see how 'Invictus' goes. And if you're thinking, "Hey, Eastwood can have two good movies in a row," yeah, he did once with 'Mystic River' and then 'Million Dollar Baby,' but that was a fluke - I cite 'Changeling' (brick)/'Gran Torino' (Oscar... whatever, it was good).
